Azhar Imam Sheikh Ahmed El Tayyeb said that Azhar was seeking to support all Islamic peoples and cherished its relations with Indonesian people and students coming for study in Azhar universities and institutes.
The Grand imam’s remarks were made during his meeting with Indonesia’ Istiqlal Mosque’s imam Professor KH Nasaruddin Umar in the presence of Indonesian Ambassador in Cairo Lotfi Raouf.
During the meeting, El Tayyeb asserted that Al Azhar has always been seeking to support the Islamic peoples through training preachers and imams to play their roles in international academies worldwide, voicing his appreciation to all students seeking to get knowledge in religious sciences and others.
The Indonesian imam, for his part, voiced happiness over his meeting with Al Azhar Grand Imam and appreciated the role of Al Azhar in supporting Islamic peoples especially in Indonesia, asserting that Al Azhar graduates are assuming top positions in Indonesia and attain much respect of the Indonesian people.
