Al-Azhar has strongly condemned the two bombing attacks near Kabul airport in Afghanistan, which left scores of Afghans and US troops dead and wounded Thursday.
In a statement, the top Sunni Muslim authority stressed full support for the Afghani people in their great loss, and hoped for the return of peace and stability to Afghanistan.
Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El-Tayyeb offered his deepest condolences for the dead and wished speedy recovery for the injured.
