Al-Azhar has condemned the blasts that tore through a Shiite mosque during Friday prayers in the Afghan city of Kandahar, leaving dozens of people dead and wounded.
In a statement, Egypt’s top Sunni authority asserted that “playing on the differences between Islamic sects to shed blood and intimidate people is betrayal to Islam’s teachings that call gently to Da’wah (Call towards God).
The inciters of sedition in the political fields take advantage of disagreements among Muslims to drive a wedge among them, Al Azhar said.
It also offered sincere condolences to the Afghan people over the victims of the terrorist bombings.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s Mufti Shawqi Allam has condemned the blasts that tore through a Shiite mosque during Friday prayers in the Afghan city of Kandahar, leaving at least 47 people dead and 70 others wounded.
In a statement, the mufti called on the Afghan society to stand against extremism and terrorism and to close ranks in order to fight such groups that seek to destabilize the country.
Allam offered condolences to the bereaved families of the victims and wished the wounded a speedy recovery.
