Airports take special measures in face of Omicron variant 1 - Egyptian Gazette

By Mohamed Attia

The nation’s airports started on Saturday intensifying their precautionary and preventive measures in the face of the Omicron variant.

The new campaign includes a massive disinfection and sterilisation process of the entrances and exits of the airports, the departure and arrival terminals and the luggage collection areas.

Waiting places, restrooms, escalators, elevators, internal transport, and boarding gates were also part of the disinfection campaign.

Included in the same campaign were also airport administrative offices.

The new measures at the airports entailed a stricter commitment to precautionary measures for all passengers and airport workers.

Those entering the airports have to more strictly wear their facemasks and physically distance themselves, according to the new regulations.

Those entering the airports are also provided with disinfectants to use.

This came as major disinfection and sterilisation operations were carried out on board of all planes, especially those of the Egyptian national carrier, EgyptAir.

Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Manar gave directives for continual coordination between his ministry, on one hand, and the Ministry of Health and Population and quarantine authorities, on the other, to apply the necessary examinations to all incoming passengers, especially those coming from countries where the Omicron variant spreads.
