The 10th International Conference on Textile Research and Technology wrapped up last week, organized by the Textile Research and Technology Institute at the National Research Centre (NRC).
In his address, NRC President Mamdouh Moawad highlighted the urgent need to embed artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainable technologies at the heart of Egypt’s industrial sector.
He stressed that this integration is key to strengthening Egyptian products and enabling them to compete more effectively on the global stage.
A central theme throughout the conference was the importance of forging stronger links between academic research and industrial expertise. Participants called for innovative solutions rooted in the circular economy and clean production principles to overcome current challenges facing the sector.
One of the major outcomes was the signing of a strategic cooperation protocol between the NRC and Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development (HUSD). The agreement seeks to combine efforts in research and development, boost industrial innovation, exchange scientific knowledge, and speed up the conversion of research findings into practical industrial applications that drive economic growth.
The protocol was signed by Moawad and HUSD President Dr Gouda Helal. The conference was held under the patronage of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdul Aziz Kounsowa and Minister of Industry Eng. Khaled Hashem.
It drew a strong turnout, including Sherif El- Rashidi, head of the Industrial Sector, Gina El-Feky, acting president of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, as well as numerous businessmen and investors.
Attendees also toured a dedicated exhibition running alongside the conference, which featured cutting-edge textile and fabric innovations along with practical industrial models based on waste recycling. The display effectively illustrated the direct bridge between scientific research and real-world industrial applications.
