CAIRO – The state has been exerting strenuous efforts to achieve food security and self-sufficiency of grains, said the Ministry of Agriculture on Sunday.
Advisor to the ministry Ahmed Ibrahim told “Good Morning Egypt” TV programme on Egypt’s Channel I that the farming sector contributes to 15 percent of the GDP and 25 percent of employment.
He added that the farming sector also provides raw materials to most industries, pointing out that Egypt’s national security is linked to food security.
Ibrahim added the state takes care of Egyptian farmers to help them achieve food security and high-quality productivity.
