Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Sayed Al Quseir met Monday with a delegation of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to discuss efforts of fighting the fall armyworm.
During the meeting, the minister hailed joint efforts between his ministry and FAO to the fight the pest and discussed a plan carried out by Egypt in cooperation with the UN organization to support development efforts.
Minister Quseir said 8,000 demonstration farms in Egyptian villages practice modern farming systems to achieve high productivities and grow modern varieties of crops that resist diseases and pests.
For his part, Jingyuan, the Director of Plant Production and Protection Division (NSP) of the FAO, who led the delegation, said he was keen to get acquainted with cooperation efforts between the two sides saying cooperation is under way for supporting food security inlight of the global challenges.
