Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk affirmed the depth of historical ties between Egypt and Tunisia.
He emphasized the agricultural sector serves as a fundamental pillar for strengthening these relations through effective partnerships.
The minister’s remarks came at a meeting with a high-level Tunisian delegation led by Samir Majoul, President of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade, and Handicrafts Monday.
The discussions focused on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector to contribute to food security and sustainable development in both countries.
Both sides also explored opportunities to boost agricultural investments, exchange expertise in desert land reclamation, and establish joint agricultural projects to strengthen both countries’ production capacities.
The possibility of launching an integrated agricultural investment project in Egypt based on these crops and related industries was also discussed.
Farouk expressed the ministry’s full readiness to provide all necessary support and technical assistance to the Tunisian side across various agricultural fields.
He noted Egypt’s agricultural sector has witnessed a major developmental renaissance in recent years, with unprecedented attention and continuous follow-up from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
He highlighted the launch of several large-scale, integrated agricultural development projects that have transformed Egypt’s landscape and contributed to achieving comprehensive and sustainable agricultural development.
The minister added that the Egyptian state is keen to encourage investment, particularly in fields related to agriculture, and offers numerous promising opportunities.
He also pointed out that real steps have been taken to improve the investment climate.
The Tunisian delegation praised Egypt’s efforts in developing the agricultural sector, particularly its large-scale agricultural development projects, and expressed Tunisia’s interest in benefiting from Egypt’s expertise in this field.
The head of the delegation emphasized the importance of this meeting as a first step toward opening new horizons for fruitful cooperation.
The delegation also expressed a desire to collaborate with Egypt, given its suitable infrastructure and expertise in these areas.
