CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation El Sayyed el Qusair hailed the Egyptian- Hungarian relations as profound and distinguished in all domains, especially in the agricultural one which has witnessed intensified technical meetings and consultations.
The minister pointed out to the current cooperation between the two countries in carrying out assessment of Hungarian vegetable seeds being cultivated under Egyptian circumstances.
He also, shed light on the Egyptian- Hungarian cooperation in using up-to-date technologies in rationalizing water consumed in irrigation through research institutions and Hungarian firms operating in this sector.
This came at a meeting between Qusair and Hungarian Ambassador to Egypt Andras Kovacs to discuss means of boosting cooperation in the sector of agriculture.
The two sides reviewed efforts to promote Egyptian-Hungarian trade exchange in produce, in light of the progress achieved by the agricultural trade balance of the two countries throughout the past two years.
In 2022, Egypt’s agricultural exports to Hungary stood at Euros 14 million, marking an increase of about 124 percent when compared with the year 2021.
The volume of Egypt’s agricultural exports has doubled during the first quarter of the current year 2023, compared with the same period in 2022, marking an increase of almost 108 percent.
Meanwhile, the Hungarian ambassador lauded the high-level coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, highlighting the desire of a set of Egyptian firms to turn Hungary into a hub for distributing the Egyptian produce in European markets.
