Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli reaffirmed on Wednesday the government’s commitment to maintaining ongoing dialogue and consultation with the Advisory Committee for Political Affairs to review regional and local developments, exchange perspectives, and explore strategies to address the current challenges affecting Egypt and the wider region.
During a meeting held at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, the prime minister emphasised the importance of holding regular meetings with the Advisory Committee to listen to expert opinions and ideas.
He also highlighted the government’s proactive approach to the current regional tensions, notably the ongoing American-Israeli-Iranian conflict, and its far-reaching consequences not only for Egypt and neighbouring countries but for international stability at large.
PM Madbouli underlined the government’s determination to benefit from committee insights in shaping informed policies and positions on complex regional issues.
He reviewed the situation since the onset of military operations in the region, including the domestic implications and the measures undertaken by state institutions under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to curb escalation and safeguard regional stability.
The prime minister also outlined the government’s efforts to mitigate the economic and logistical repercussions of the ongoing crisis.
This, the Cabinet Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Homosani said in a statement, included ensuring the availability of essential goods and energy resources to meet citizens’ needs amid challenging international circumstances, while maintaining coordination across relevant state agencies.
Members of the Advisory Committee highlighted the prevailing uncertainty surrounding regional developments and outlined potential scenarios ranging from de-escalation to further escalation.
They stressed the importance of preparedness for all eventualities, particularly with regard to economic impacts, emphasising the need for transparency with the public, advocating a clear political and media narrative and the dissemination of factual information to political actors and opinion leaders.
The committee praised Egypt’s foreign policy initiatives, noting the strategic diplomatic efforts led by President Sisi to halt regional escalation and mitigate the crisis’s effects.
They concluded by urging the government to begin a thorough study of the region’s post-conflict future, identifying opportunities and challenges, and aligning strategies to serve Egypt’s national interests.
