Activities of 2nd day of int’l conference on solidarity, sustainable development kicks off

CAIRO – Activities of the second day of an international conference on solidarity kicked off here Monday to probe the 2030 agenda for sustainable development.

Chaired by Head of Egypt’s Council for Human Rights (NCHR) Moushira Khattab, the event is being held in co-operation with the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions, the Arab League, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) of Qatar.

The second day will witness sessions on democracy, governance, transparency, combating corruption, interaction between national institutions and civil society, and sustainable development indicators.

The conference focuses on sustainable development Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.

It is also seeking to encourage international co-operation and solidarity to activate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development.

Participants will stress the need for the government sector to integrate with stakeholders and to adopt an approach that includes the whole society, thus accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
