Active preparations are being made for the launch of the second Egyptian-Emirati Camel and Heritage Festival in Sharm el-Sheikh.
The festival is scheduled to be held in March, under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
A host of dignitaries from the two countries will attend the event which will be sponsored at the media level by al-Tahrir Printing and Publishing House, the media organisation which publishes The Egyptian Gazette and its sister weekly publication, the Egyptian Mail.
Al-Tahrir House has hosted the third coordination meeting of the festival to follow up on preparations made for it by the specialised committees formed by concerned authorities.
The committees aim to organize the festival in a way that befits the importance and weight of Egypt and the United Arab Emirates and achieve desired goals from it, including offering support to the heritage of the two countries.
The festival also aims to strengthen ties between Bedouin tribes around the Arab region.
Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhi, attended the meeting, along with Minister of Social Solidarity, Neveenal-Qabbaj, South Sinai Governor, Maj. Gen. Khaled Fouda, and officials of al-Tahrir Printing and Publishing House.
House Chairman of the Board, Eyyad Abul-Haggag, said the publications of the house are ready for the event.
The Arabic language publications of the house, he said, have made enough preparations for the festival, along with its foreign language publications and website.
Abul-Haggag noted that al-Tahrir House also prepared a series of advertising tools, especially outdoor advertising tools, to deliver a detailed image about preparations for the festival.
“House publications have been running news and reports about preparations made now for the event,” Abul-Haggag said during the meeting.
Maj. Gen. Fouda, for his part, said the different departments of his governorate are on high alert for the launch of the festival, in accordance with planned arrangements and commensurate with its importance.
He revealed that the launch of the festival would coincide with National Day celebrations in South Sinai.
“Our governorate celebrates its day on March 19,” the governor said.
He added that South Sinai authorities would hold a major artistic celebration on the eve of the festival.
This celebration, he said, would feature a large number of Egyptian and Arab artists.
“It will also be held on the occasion of the National Day of our governorate,” Governor Fouda said.
He explained that his governorate authorities have already developed the camel track where the festival would be held.
Meanwhile, Minister Sobhi praised the efforts made by Governor Fouda to encourage camel racing and sports in his governorate.
These efforts, the minister said, are radically changing the course of camel sports in Egypt.
The minister noted that he followed with admiration efforts made by the governor in this regard, even before assuming his ministerial post.
Minister al-Qabbaj also expressed pleasure to be part of preparations for the festival.
“We will continue to work with pride, capitalising on the momentum of the global success achieved by the United Nations climate summit, COP27, in Sharm el-Sheikh in November of last year,” the minister said.
“I am confident that Egypt will reach the heights it deserves every day,” she added.
