Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit welcomed Wednesday the success of Egyptian-Qatari mediation efforts to reach an agreement on implementing a humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip and exchanging a number of captives, hostages and prisoners from both sides.
In a press release, Abul Gheit said he hopes that the announced truce will lead to a comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and halting the brutal Israeli aggression on civilians.
He underscored the necessity of acting to build on this truce, which is a genuine chance to stop all aggressive acts.
Abul Gheit stressed the comprehensive political solution to the Palestinian cause is depending on the two state-solution in order to end repeated violence acts in the Middle East region.
