Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit welcomed a decision by Armenia to recognize the state of Palestine.
In a statement on Saturday, AL Spokesman Gamal Roshdi said expanding recognition of the Palestinian state reflects growing conviction of the international community that the Israeli occupation can never continue and the importance of putting into effect the two-state solution.
Abul Gheit urged all countries to recognize the state of Palestine, considering this as an important step for establishing the Palestinian state along the 1967 borders.
Abul Gheit highlighted that this really contributes to realizing peace and ending the occupation.
