Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit participates on Wednesday in the session of the UNSC at the ministerial level to discuss the means to boost cooperation between the Arab League and the UNSC in the field of maintaining international peace and security and promote stability in the Arab region.
An official source at the general secretariat of the Arab League said that Abul Gheit’s participation in this meeting comes within the framework of consultations and coordination of the UNSC with the regional and non-regional organizations to boost partnership.
The meeting, in which UN Secretary General António Guterres and a number of officials of the UNSC member states will participate, comes at an initiative of the UAE as the current member in the UNSC.
The source said that Abul Gheit will deliver a comprehensive statement reviewing the vision of the Arab League on the latest developments in the Arab region especially within the framework of the international situation due to the war in Ukraine.
The meeting tackles coordination and consultations with the UNSC to face challenges threatening the security and stability of the Arab region and means to promote cooperation between the UN and the Arab League, the source said.
