Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abu Gheit has praised Egypt’s role in defending the Palestinian rights.
He termed as “smoke bombs” an attempt by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to level accusations against Egypt to cover up his desire to prolong the war for political and personal considerations.
In a statement on Wednesday, Abul Gheit underlined Egypt’s stand rejecting the presence of Israeli forces in Philadelphi Corridor is backed at the Arab level.
He referred to the lies circulated by Netanyahu to jeopardize Egypt’s pivotal regional role.
The Israeli pretexts became clear and Netanyahu does not want a ceasefire deal, he said, noting that the Israeli people are aware of this fact.
Abul Gheit urged anew all international parties to pressurize Israel to reach a ceasefire deal as soon as possible to stave off dangerous regional escalation.
