Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit condemned on Wednesday the armed conflicts in the town of Kreinik, in western Darfur, in which more than 200 people were killed and injured on the back of tribal disputes.
He offered condolences for the families of the deceased and wished those injured speedy recovery.
In a statement on Wednesday, Abul Gheit called on all parties to immediately halt violence and exercise self restraint.
He highlighted the importance of rallying up national efforts to settle the current political crisis in Darfur, noting that this will largely contribute to stabilising conditions in Sudan.
