Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit asserted the league’s full readiness to support Somalia in the various fields especially education and health.
Abul Gheit’s remarks were made during his meeting on Tuesday with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, who is currently on a visit to Egypt.
During the meeting, Abul Gheit asserted that the AL is ready to coordinate with Arab states, the UN and other international organisations to help Somalia counter the drought and food security crises as well as other challenges besetting the Arab country in the current phase.
Meanwhile, AL Spokesman Gamal Roshdi said the meeting took up exchange of viewpoints on a number of issues especially the latest developments in Somalia.
Abul Gheit also reiterated his keenness on getting acquainted with the Somali president’s vision on the latest developments especially the government formation as soon as possible in order to enhance security and stability in the country.
