CAIRO – Head of the Administrative Control Authority Hassan Abdel Shafy will lead, during the coming two years, UN efforts in drawing up strategies and executive mechanisms to fight corruption.
Abdel Shafy was elected unopposed by 150 participants for that task during the 9th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (CoSP) in Sharm El-Sheikh.
During the conference, Abdel Shafy shed light on Egypt’s expertise in fighting corruption in all sectors through a national strategy to put into force all legislation and articles mentioned in the country’s constitution on combating corruption.
Delegations that took part in CoSP appreciated Abdel Shafy’s efforts to combat corruption and affirmed the continuation of joint cooperation with Egypt to benefit from its expertise and exchange information about getting rid of this problem.
Abdel Shafy was appointed as head of Administrative Control Authority upon a decree issued by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in August, 2020 after years of service in the Armed Forces.
