DEAD SEA – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Tuesday the Palestinian Authority is ready to assume duties in running the Gaza Strip, noting time is ripe to stop what the people in the Strip have been suffering for right months.
Before the opening session of “The Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarnian Response for Gaza” in the Dead Sea, Abbas urged the need to stop the crimes against the Palestinian people in the West Bank and al-Quds (East Jerusalem), including the theft of lands and resources and attacks on their freedom and sanctities.
Abbas called for the important conference to provide humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people afflicted and destroyed at the hands of the brutal Israeli occupation forces in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
The conference is jointly organized by Egypt, Jordan and the United Nations in the Jordanian city of the Dead Sea.
He thanked Jordanian King Abdullah II, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, and Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres for the conference.
Abbas urged the need to stop the crimes against which the Palestinian people in the West Bank and al-Quds are exposed, including the theft of their lands and resources and attacks on their freedom and sanctities.
Over the course of the 26th and 27th of May in Brussels, the Palestinian government presented its programs for relief, institutional reform, and financial and economic stability, and announced its readiness to assume its duties in Gaza as it is in the West Bank, including all Gaza Strip crossings, and its continued readiness to coordinate with relevant countries and international organizations.
