Egypt and Turkey will hold political consultations on 5-6 May in the Egyptian capital, for the first time since the two countries severed diplomatic relations in 2013.
The Egyptian side in the consultations will be headed by Deputy Foreign Minister, Ambassador Hamdy Sanad Loza, whereas the Turkish side will be headed by Deputy Foreign Minister, Sedat Onal, the two countries said in a joint statement on Tuesday.
They added that these “exploratory” discussions would focus on necessary steps that may lead to the normalisation of relations between the two countries bilaterally and in a regional context.
