Egypt’s Minister of Local Development, Hisham Amna, mentioned in detail on Tuesday his ministry’s achievements in the past nine years.
The Ministry of Local Development, he said, scored a series of successes on the path to the New Republic.
He attributed these successes to what he described as the ‘visionary leadership’ of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi since coming to power in Egypt in mid-2014.
“The ministry has adopted a strategy for cooperation with regional and international partners with expertise in local development,” Minister Amna said.
He added that this strategy aimed at implementing sustainable development plans and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The minister noted that his ministry partnered with United Nations organizations, the European Union, and some Asian countries in training and the exchange of expertise.
This cooperation, he said, aimed to advance local development and improve the living standards of citizens in all governorates.
“We furthered cooperation with African states and hosted numerous African cadres to exchange expertise in local development,” the minister said.
“We also made efforts to transfer the experiment of the presidential Decent Life initiative to other African countries,” he added.
Minister Amna noted that his ministry had benefited from the international partnerships it hammered out, especially with the European Union, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Association of Netherlands Municipalities, in providing training for local cadres, both inside and outside Egypt.
The minister expected the coming period to witness more cooperation with these international partners in many projects and programmes.
“We will also maintain our coordination with concerned agencies in Egypt to prepare for the World Urban Forum 2024, the African Cities Summit 2025, and Africa’s first conference on solid waste by the end of 2023,” the minister said.
He cited cooperation with Cameroon in the exchange of expertise in agriculture, water and local development.
