Chairman of the State Information Service (SIS) Diaa Rashwan said that preparations have been completed for organizing the international media coverage of the 2025 Senate elections, which have already begun for Egyptians abroad and will take place in Egypt on Monday and Tuesday.
Such efforts are being coordinated through an operations room led by the SIS chief.
In a statement issued Saturday, Rashwan said the operations room includes the foreign press center and the SIS’s sectors for foreign media and information.
He pointed out that the room provides multiple fast communication methods for all foreign media correspondents accredited by the National Election Authority (NEA), whether residents or visitors, to facilitate their coverage and overcome any obstacles they might face during the voting process.
He said the elections have significantly attracted attention of international media outlets, noting that a large number of offices and representatives from major global media organizations have applied for permits to follow the electoral process.
“Permits have already been approved and granted to 86 Arab and international media entities, including 82 media organizations and four media service companies. The media outlets include 21 of the world’s largest and most widely circulated news agencies, along with six major regional and international radio and television networks, 25 TV channels, and 23 newspapers and magazines, including three prominent online news outlets.”
Rashwan noted that these media outlets represent 32 countries from various continents, including: the United States, Canada, Cuba, Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy, the UK, Belgium, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, Russia, China, Japan, Turkey, Vietnam, and Bangladesh. The media outlets from the Arab world include representatives from 14 countries, including the UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Tunisia, Morocco, among others.
