The General Authority for Universal Health Insurance (UHI) system has announced a series of significant achievements under the system in Aswan governorate, reflecting continued progress in delivering integrated, high-quality healthcare services in line with the State’s vision for a sustainable health system under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Since the official launch of the system in Aswan on 1 July 2025, approximately 1,353,700 citizens have been registered, representing 78.9% coverage of the governorate’s total population. This expansion underscores the ongoing efforts to broaden enrolment and ensure universal access to healthcare services.

The authority confirmed that nearly 7 million medical services have been provided to beneficiaries to date. These encompass primary and specialised care, diagnostic services, surgical interventions, and oncology treatment, delivered in accordance with the highest quality and accreditation standards to enhance health outcomes and service efficiency.

A total of 20,440 pre-authorisation requests have been approved, alongside 37 exceptional approvals, demonstrating the system’s responsiveness and flexibility in meeting patients’ treatment needs.

The State continues to cover insurance premiums for those unable to pay, reinforcing principles of social justice, while also strengthening partnerships with the private sector to ensure integrated service provision.
In the field of advanced medical care, Aswan has witnessed notable progress, including 35 cochlear implant surgeries, 33 corneal transplants, 13 autologous bone marrow transplants, and 6 allogeneic transplants, in addition to 312 joint replacement surgeries and 93 neurosurgical procedures.

Furthermore, 1,052 cardiac catheterisations, stent placements, and balloon angioplasties were performed, alongside 49 chronic total occlusion (CTO) procedures and 160 open-heart surgeries.

The governorate also recorded two deep brain stimulation implant cases, each valued at approximately LE1.76 million, reflecting the system’s commitment to providing cutting-edge treatment modalities.

In terms of oversight and quality assurance, 226 incentive visits and 150 field monitoring visits were conducted to evaluate performance, assess patient experience, and address complaints promptly.
