CAIRO – Egypt’s Local Development Minister Mahmoud Shaarawi said 85,000 tons of waste were removed from waterways in 21 governorates.
Shaarawi said that this falls within the framework of copycatting the successful model of Beheira governorate in this regard.
Shaarawi received a report on Sunday on the outcome of removing such waste in addition to boosting efforts to grow trees and decorate streets.
He said the ministry is giving top priority to implementing the new cleanliness mechanism in areas overlooking the River Nile and canals.
