CAIRO – Fifty-two countries are participating in the Urban Expo which is held on the fringe of the twelfth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF12) that kicked off earlier Monday and runs till Friday.
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli inaugurated the expo with the participation of 115 international and local organizations.
The Egyptian pavilion has dedicated a zone for showcasing state’s contributions in building the African continent.
Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Sherif Sherbiny, Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Anacláudia Rossbach, Egyptian statesmen and officials of Arab and international delegations taking part in the forum attended the opening of the expo.
Meanwhile, the housing minister briefed the Madbouli about the expo, which is held an area of 20,000 square meters.
Built on an area of 1,500 square meters, the Egyptian pavilion comprises Egyptian ministries and bodies alongside 11 real estate developers.
The WUF12 Urban Expo aims to explore practical solutions to tackle urban challenges related to housing, transport, energy, waste, and climate change.
