CAIRO – The fourth meeting of the Arab Coordination Mechanism for Disaster Risk Reduction kicked off on Monday, headed by Tunisia, at the headquarters of the Arab League here ahead of the first ministerial meeting for ministers concerned with disaster risk reduction, slated for Thursday.
The three-day meeting will tackle following up the implementation of the statute of the Arab Coordination Mechanism for Disaster Risk Reduction, a report on the follow-up to the implementation of the Arab Strategy for Disaster Reduction, and a project to establish the Arab Network for Environmental Radiation Monitoring and Early Warning.
During the meeting, Tunisian Deputy Permanent Representative to the Arab League Lotfi Al Talbi called on coordinating efforts among the Arab states and increasing their capabilities to adopt successful approaches and strategies aimed to reduce the severe repercussions of natural disasters and the repercussions of climate change.
