The 49th session of the Arab Labour Conference kicked off here on Monday under the sponsorship of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi with the participation of labour ministers and representatives of labour unions and business leaders of of 21 Arab states, representatives of Arab and international organisations, ambassadors and prominent figures.
Mauritania is the current president of the conference which runs till May 29.
Minister of Manpower Hassan Shehata is presiding over a three-way delegation of Egypt comprising the ministry of manpower, business organisations and the Egyptian Trade Union Federation (ETUF).
The minister will deliver Egypt’s speech to the conference on behalf of President Sisi to assert Egypt’s support to all policies and ideas backing the enhancement of joint Arab action.
The conference will address a four-item report filed by the ALO director general under the title of “Societal Dialogue.. Challenges of the President and Horizons for the Future” listed on the conference agenda to discuss means of beefing up societal dialogue at the national and regional levels as the best strategy for reinforcing the economic potentials of the Arab states in facing of current challenges.
The conference agenda also includes a number of items on the ALO’s activities and achievements over the past phase.
