Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, announced plans to deploy four floating, regasification, and storage units (FRSUs). This initiative aims to significantly enhance the nation’s natural gas infrastructure.

Minister Badawi highlighted the continuous efforts of work teams, who are operating around the clock to prepare ports and marine docks for the FRSUs’ arrival. His statements were made during a meeting with the heads of Egypt’s petroleum sector companies

Minister Badawi highlighted ongoing efforts to prepare for the summer season by boosting local production and readying infrastructure to receive imported liquefied natural gas for the national grid.

He also discussed the ministry’s initiatives to increase domestic oil production, a key part of the sector’s strategy to meet citizens’ needs. This involves stabilising production over the next two months before a gradual increase. Badawi emphasised the direct impact of these efforts on securing daily energy needs for 120 million citizens.

The Minister also stressed the importance of finding new investment opportunities to maximize economic benefits from petroleum refining infrastructure. He reviewed the ministry’s drive toward an optimal energy mix, aiming to increase renewable and green energy to 42 per cent by 2030.

This push aligns with the government’s goals for human safety, reduced carbon emissions, energy efficiency, and enhanced regional cooperation for resource and infrastructure utilisation.
