CAIRO – The third African Conference on Precision Agriculture will kick off on Tuesday in Cairo, under the sponsorship of Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Ayman Ashour.

The three-day conference will bring together participants from 11 African countries; Egypt, Rwanda, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Morocco, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, and South Africa.

The city of Kigali in Rwanda is the main headquarters of the conference, while its activities remotely take place in the rest of African countries, within what are known as “Satellite Sites”.

In statements to MENA on Friday, Islam Abu el-Magd, Chairman of the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, said that the conference falls within the framework of consolidating cooperation with universities and international scientific organizations, in cooperation with African countries, the authority holds such conferences to apply smart agriculture technologies at the level of the African continent, including Egypt.

He added that the conference will be held under the auspices of the International Society of Precision Agriculture (ISPA) in the United States, the African Association for Precision Agriculture (AAPA), and the International Plant Nutrition Institute (IPNI).

The conference is an event focused on advancing the application of precision agriculture techniques across the African continent.

In December 2022, the African Plant Nutrition Institute (APNI) organized and hosted the 2nd African Conference on Precision Agriculture (AfCPA) in cooperation with the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P), the International Society of Precision Agriculture (ISPA) and the African Association for Precision Agriculture (AAPA).

The mission of AfCPA was to create an event that would “connect the science and practice needed to put precision agriculture (PA) in action for Africa.”

AfCPA 2022 was structured as a hybrid event with a main conference site in Nairobi, Kenya, and 10 other in-person satellite sites distributed across North, West, East, and Southern Africa.
