CAIRO – Minister of Environment, Yasmine Fouad, announced the launch of the second phase of the GreenRoots initiative on Friday, in partnership with MSD, a leading pharmaceutical company, and the Egyptian Pharmaceutical Students Federation (EPSF).
This initiative aligns with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s “100 Million Trees” initiative, which aims to combat desertification, increase green spaces, improve air quality, and reduce emissions. The Ministry of Environment has committed to planting 13 million trees over a seven-year period.
Minister Fouad highlighted the critical role of public-private partnerships in achieving environmental balance and promoting public health. By collaborating with the private sector and civil society organizations, the initiative aims to accelerate its impact and create a more sustainable future for Egypt.
