Around 2,5000 people took part in a public meeting on Thursday to voice opinions and make proposals regarding Decent Life projects.
The meeting, held in the village of Nazlatel-Gadi, came in preparation for the second phase of the presidential rural development initiative, Decent Life in Sohag Governorate in Upper Egypt.
Mohamed Kamal, who is director of Decent Life office for Sohag Governorate, and Dr Hisham el-Haddad, General Coordinator for the Decent Life Foundation attended the meeting.
Kamal said the aim of the meeting was to engage the public in the initiative, to listen to their demands, and exchange views on projects implemented as part of the initiative.
President Abdel-Fattah El Sisi launched the Decent Life initiative on an experimental basis in 2019 and its first phase was officially launched in July 2021.
The initiative aims to improve standards of living, infrastructure and basic services in rural areas nationwide, home to 58 per cent of Egypt’s 103-million population.
