The Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation is implementing several projects in the various governorates, especially in Upper Egypt, affirmed Minister Hani Sewilam.
As many as 236 projects are currently being implemented in Upper Egypt governorates during FY 2022/2023, affirmed the minister in a statement on Tuesday.
The projects include rehabilitation and lining of irrigation canals, raising the efficiency of the infrastructure of irrigation facilities, protecting against torrential rains, digging underground wells, expanding the operation of wells with solar energy, rehabilitating and renewing lifting stations, and protecting the sides of the Nile River.
Efforts are underway to implement and rehabilitate lifting stations at a total cost worth LE621 million, said the minister.
The minister also indicated that the project of digging underground wells and irrigation canal cost about LE486 million.
