Twenty scientists and researchers from Capital University have been included in the Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List 2026, according to preliminary results based on research impact and citation indicators from the Scopus database.

The results include 17 researchers recognised for their single-year research impact and 12 for their career-long impact, with nine appearing on both lists, bringing the total number of researchers to 20.

Capital University President Sayed Kandil congratulated the researchers, saying the achievement reflects the university’s scientific talent and the international recognition of its research contributions.

He noted that a university’s impact is measured not only by its educational programmes but also by the quality of its research and the recognition it receives from the international scientific community.

Kandil said the achievement would encourage further efforts to develop the university’s research system, strengthen researchers’ capabilities and provide an academic environment that supports innovation and creativity.

He also highlighted plans to expand high-quality international publishing and research partnerships with universities and scientific institutions worldwide.

The university is working to promote research that addresses community needs and development priorities, in line with the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research and Egypt Vision 2030, he added.

The Stanford/Elsevier ranking uses bibliometric indicators drawn from Scopus, including citations and a composite citation score known as the c-score, alongside considerations related to researchers’ roles in published work.

It features two main lists: one measuring research impact over a single year and another assessing cumulative impact throughout a researcher’s career.
