CAIRO – The National Alliance for Civil Development Work announced on Monday the opening of the first center for smart metal research in Egypt and outside Japan and the United States at the Egyptian Liver Research Institute and Hospital in Dakahlia governorate, northeast of Cairo.
In a statement, the alliance said the center will work on improving the health of patients and overcoming medical challenges by producing smart biomaterials upon directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to relieve the suffering of the poor.
In this regard, Dr. Gamal Sheha, the chairman of the board of directors of the hospital, said the center was established in line with a research cooperation agreement between the Egyptian Liver Research Institute and the National Institute for Materials Science of Tsukuba University, Japan.
The center includes five units; a smart biomaterials unit, a flow cytometry unit, a stem cell and tissue culture unit, a genome sequencing unit, and a molecular biology unit.
