CAIRO -Egypt’s Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar reviewed a report on establishing 168 projects in Upper Egypt’s universities with a total cost of EGP 35.36 billion from 2014 to 2021, the Higher Education said in a statement on Friday.
About 62 projects with a cost of EGP 12.96 billion are being established in the Universities of Beni Suef, Minya, and Fayoum, 31 projects of which had been completely finalized.
As many as 24 projects with a cost of EGP 5.92 billion are being established in the Universities of Assiut and New Valley, eight projects of which had been completely finalized.
A total of 82 projects with a cost of EGP 16.47 billion are being established in the Universities of Sohag, South Valley, Aswan, and Luxor, 36 projects of which had been completely finalized.
The report pointed to establishing seven non-profit universities; namely Aswan National University, Assiut National University, Fayoum National University, Minya National University, Beni Suef National University, South Valley National University, and Sohag National University at a cost of EGP 21.52 billion.
Moreover, four technological universities are being set up in Upper Egypt in the governorates of Beni Suef, Assiut, Minya and Luxor at a cost of EGP 1.71 billion.
