The 156th session of the Arab League Council kicked off on Thursday at a ministerial level under the chairmanship of Kuwait and in the presence of Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit and Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East Philippe Lazzarini.
The Arab foreign ministers will discuss a host of issues, including the Palestinian problem, the developments in Syria, Yemen, Lebanon and Libya in addition to maritime navigation safety and energy supplies in the Arab Gulf region.
The agenda also includes items on boosting peace and development in Sudan, supporting Somalia and the Comoros, the Arab-African co-operation march and the Arab-European dialogue.
Arab relations with a number of regional and international groupings will be also raised during this session.
Ahead of the ministerial session, the permanent delegates of the Arab League met on Tuesday to prepare for the issues to be tabled on the agenda of today meeting.
