The 112th session of the Arab Economic and Social Council (ESC) kicked off on Tuesday in Cairo at the level of senior officials.
The meeting falls within preparations for the council’s ministerial meeting, set for Thursday.
The meeting is set to discuss the agenda of the fifth session of the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, slated for Nouakchott, Mauritania, on November 6-7.
It will also discuss preparations for the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA) and developments in the Arab Customs Union, as well as items related to the support of the Palestinian economy and the 2021 Arab food security report, the draft regulations for the joint Arab-African fund for disaster risk reduction, backing efforts to save the agricultural season in Sudan, and issues related to organisations and institutions of the joint Arab action.
