The 106th convoy of humanitarian aid trucks began entering the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, via Rafah land port in Egypt’s North Sinai governorate, heading toward the Karam Abu Salem crossing, in preparation for entering the enclave.
A source at Rafah port said that the trucks, part of the 106th convoy of “Zad Al-Izza from Egypt to Gaza,” are carrying thousands of tons of food and humanitarian assistance, medical supplies, therapeutic medicines, various petroleum products and shelter materials.
The source added that the “Zad Al-Izza… from Egypt to Gaza” initiative was launched by the Egyptian Red Crescent on July 27. Since then, it has delivered thousands of tons of aid, including food supply chains, flour, infant formula, medical equipment, medicines and large quantities of fuel.
Israeli forces closed the crossings connecting the Gaza Strip since March 2, following the end of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement and the failure to reach an agreement to sustain it. The truce was violated by intense Israeli airstrikes on March 18, followed by renewed ground incursions into various areas of Gaza from which Israeli forces had previously withdrawn.
The Israeli authorities also prevented the entry of humanitarian aid trucks, fuel and shelter supplies for displaced Palestinians who lost their homes due to the war on Gaza. In addition, they have refused to allow the entry of heavy equipment needed for debris removal and reconstruction.
In May, the Israeli authorities permitted only limited quantities of aid to enter Gaza under a mechanism implemented in cooperation with a US security company. This mechanism was rejected by United Nations organizations, other humanitarian agencies and the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), as it violates established international humanitarian aid standards.
The Egyptian Red Crescent has been serving as the national mechanism for coordinating and escorting aid convoys into Gaza since the beginning of the crisis in October 2023.
