Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Dr Khaled Abdel Ghaffar announced on Friday that around 57.5 million medical services have been provided to citizens under the “100 Days of Health” presidential campaign since its launch last June 25.
‘The 100-Day Health’ campaign aims to intensify preventive care services (including immunisations and vaccines), as well as environmental health and food safety services while raising citizens’ awareness concerning health-related misconceptions, the minister pointed out.
The campaign, part of the ‘100-Million Healthy Lives’ initiative, offers check-ups, treatment, testing, and screening services at the state’s expense, Minister Abdel Ghaffar said, noting that many mobile clinics have also been deployed to public and crowded places.
These clinics cover various specialisations, such as internal medicine, paediatrics, surgery, ophthalmology, teeth, ear and nose, obstetrics and gynaecology, and dermatology, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said.
The larger ‘100 Million Health Initiative’ was launched in July 2019 under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
The campaign also presented services for the early detection and treatment of hearing loss and deafness in the newborn as well as healthcare services for pregnant women and mothers and in the fields of cancer detection and psychological health, he added.
These services are delivered through medical convoys, family planning clinics, routine vaccinations, and awareness campaigns, according to the ministry spokesperson.
The services also include early detection and treatment of chronic illnesses, treatment of liver cancer, nutrition interventions for school children, and treatment of children suffering from muscle atrophy.
