The one-million integrated services card will be launched nationwide within the upcoming period, announced Egypt’s Social Solidarity Minister Nivine el Kabbag.
The move comes as part of the State’s keenness on ensuring that social insurance services are provided to the people who need such services the most, added Kabbag in exclusive statements to MENA on Sunday.
The ministry will employ all its capabilities and will broaden the scope of cooperation with the partners from the NGOs and institutions in order to reach to the people with disabilities, affirmed the minister.
A host of volunteers will participate alongside the rural pioneers in the campaign, as they will reach people with disabilities and those responsible for them in order to obtain the integrated services card after recording the required data from each case, the minister went on to say.
Regarding the beneficiaries of the campaign, the minister revealed that the ministry aims, in the first stage, to obtain service cards for people with 12 types of disabilities, which are the types that have been identified by specialists and that do not require a medical examination to determine their disability.
Kabbag, meanwhile, said that the ministry provides cash support to a total of 1,214,373 million people with disabilities, at a total cost of EGYP 8.2 billion annually, and has issued more than 1.17 million integrated services cards for people with disabilities, in addition to benefiting 1.9 million people with disabilities through 795 rehabilitation and care entities.
The ministry also supports blind students in Egyptian public universities in 18 governorates, she added.
Also, hearing impaired and deaf students receive great support at the Egyptian universities through providing sign language interpreters at a total cost of EGP 3.4 million.
