SHARM EL SHEIKH, Egypt- US President Joe Biden hailed Egypt’s stance on the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, thanking President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for his invitation to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP27.

During a meeting here Friday with President Sisi, the US president said Egypt is the right place for convening the UN climate summit, pointing out to the urgent need for addressing climate issues.

Biden praised Egypt’s mediation role in calming the situation in the Gaza Strip.

“We have a lot of common issues that we will speak about and we will continue our dialogue on the issue of human rights,” the US president said.

He expressed happiness over the centennial marking the establishment of Egyptian-American relations, expressing hope Egypt-US ties will get stronger and closer after the visit.
