Invited by the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Sciences in the Arab States, both the University for Peace (UPEACE) and the UNESCO Chair on Peace, Solidarity and Intercultural Dialogue at Abat Oliba University CEU participated in high level meetings with the different sectors of the UNESCO Office in Cairo.
Parties agreed to explore the possibility to prepare joint e-learning and capacity building programmes for teachers. The women and girls’ approach in education was highlighted as a priority. Another relevant topic was the preparation of the forthcoming joint events on water & climate change to be organized by Cairo-UNESCO in the context of the COP 27 in Sharm el-Sheikh by November 2022.
The UNESCO Chair on Peace submitted a proposal of Memorandum of Understanding to be signed with Cairo-UNESCO for future programmes and co-operation. Under the leadership of Cairo-UNESCO, UPEACE will co-operate with the King Abdul Aziz University in the launching of the Executive Master of Public Policy.
