The exchange rate of the US dollar against the Egyptian pound slightly increased on Sunday’s trading at Egypt’s major banks, after the Central Bank of Egypt increased the interest rate by 1% in March.
At the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) and Banque Misr, the dollar rate inched up three piasters, recording EGP 18.27 for buying and EGP 18.37 for selling.
At the Commercial International Bank (CIB), the dollar exchange rate rose by 5 piasters to reach EGP 18.29 for buying and EGP 18.39 for selling.
As for main currencies exchange rates, world capital markets and banks are being affected on the back of repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, euro prices increased by 3-4 piasters for selling and buying.
The euro price registered EGP 19.79 for buying and EGP 20.00 for selling at Banque Misr and the NBE.
At the CIB, the euro price was EGP 19.89 for buying and EGP 20.10 for selling.
The pound sterling at the NBE and Banque Misr registered EGP 23.71 for buying and EGP 24.03 for selling.
At the CIB, the pound sterling exchange rate registered EGP 23.89 for buying and EGP 24.01 for selling.
The Saudi riyal price stood at EGP 4.86 for buying and EGP 4.89 for selling at Banque Misr and the NBE.
