CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir has participated in the 112th session of the Arab League’s Economic and Social Council at the ministerial level, in the presence of the Arab ministers concerned with economic, financial and trade affairs and representatives of specialized Arab organizations, along with Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheit.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Yemen.
Samir said the meeting touched on the adoption of decisions emerging from the preparatory meetings of experts and senior officials on social and economic issues of common Arab interest, the Ministry of Trade and Industry said in a statement.
The meeting also discussed the latest developments related to the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA) and the Arab Customs Union, with the conferees adopting a number of resolutions that would strengthen integration among Arab states and develop inter-Arab trade exchange, the minister added.
