CAIRO – The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Brazil hit dlrs 3.4 billion in 2023 against dlrs 4.2 billion in 2022, recording an 18 percent decrease, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
In a statement, the agency said Egyptian exports to Brazil increased by 1.3 percent from dlrs 438 million in 2022 to dlrs 444 million in 2023 while Egyptian imports declined by 20 percent from dlrs 3.7 billion in 2022 to dlrs 3 billion in 2023.
Fertilizers top of the list of Egyptian exports to Brazil with its volume hitting dlrs 183 million exports to be followed by iron and steel (dlrs 46 million), processed fruit and vegetables (dlrs 38 million), fresh vegetables and fruits (dlrs 30 million) then glass (dlrs 21 million).
Grains took the lion’s share of Egypt’s imports from Brazil with an estimated value of dlrs 726 million to be followed by crude iron, sugar and meat.
Brazilian investments in Egypt decreased by 65.9 percent from EGP 2.4 million in 2020-21 to EGP 829,000 in 2021-22.
