CAIRO – Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament Laszlo Kover said on Saturday that the visit of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Hungary last month gave momentum to the relations between the two countries and opened the door for further cooperation at the political and economic levels.

During a meeting with Egyptian Ambassador in Budapest Mohamed El Shennawy, Kover voiced appreciation of the distinguished relations between Egypt and Hungary, stressing that his country considers Egypt a strong ally in the Middle East region, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

Shennawy, for his part, said Egypt attaches great importance to boosting cooperation with Hungary at the economic and parliamentary levels in the coming period.

He stressed, according to MENA, the need for promoting relations between the two countries in the economic field, in light of Hungary’s presidency of the Visegrád group.
