A new long-term partnership between the CMA CGM Foundation and the Egyptian Food Bank has been established to support communities in need across Egypt, beginning with a large-scale Ramadan initiative aimed at alleviating food insecurity. This collaboration has launched with the distribution of 1,000 food parcels, ensuring that approximately 5,000 individuals receive essential nutrition throughout the Holy Month.
In a concerted effort to reach the most underserved communities, particularly in rural areas, 30 staff members from a leading global transport and logistics company, led by the CEO of its Egypt division, Tariq Zaghloul, joined forces with volunteers from the Egyptian Food Bank to pack and distribute the food parcels on March 6. Their shared commitment highlights the importance of solidarity and humanitarian aid during times of need.

“We are proud to partner with the Egyptian Food Bank to help tackle food insecurity. Our shared commitment to supporting vulnerable communities, particularly during Ramadan, is a powerful reflection of our values of solidarity and humanitarian aid,” said Tariq Zaghloul, CEO of the company’s Egypt division. “I want to express my deepest gratitude to our staff for their dedication and to the Egyptian Food Bank for their expertise. This is just the beginning of our long-term commitment to help more families in need.”
Mohsen Sarhan, CEO of the Egyptian Food Bank, emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating, “Our partnership represents a powerful step forward in our mission to combat food insecurity and ensure that no family is left behind. This initiative comes at a crucial time, as Ramadan is a month of giving and solidarity, and through this collaboration, we are able to provide essential food supplies to thousands of individuals who need them most.” He added, “The impact of this collaboration will extend far beyond Ramadan, fostering sustained food security within vulnerable communities across Egypt, and demonstrating our shared, unwavering commitment to alleviating the suffering from hunger.”
As part of a broader commitment to humanitarian aid, additional solidarity initiatives will be organized throughout the year to ensure a lasting and sustainable impact on food security in Egypt. This marks the second consecutive year that food packages have been distributed in the country, following previous efforts in Alexandria and Cairo, where over 1,000 packages were provided during Ramadan.
Beyond Egypt, the organization is dedicated to tackling food insecurity worldwide by providing financial, human, and logistical assistance to strengthen food distribution efforts. In France and its overseas territories, partnerships with leading food aid organizations such as Restos du Coeur, French Food Banks, Secours Populaire, Secours Catholique, and ANDES help deliver critical support to those in need. In Lebanon, initiatives include distributing hot meals and contributing to the construction of a community kitchen in Beirut, capable of serving 3,000 meals daily. Additionally, in the United States, collaboration with The Salvation Army has further expanded its global impact.
Through sustained commitment and strategic partnerships, these efforts have enabled the distribution of over 10 million meals worldwide, reinforcing a steadfast dedication to humanitarian aid and food security for vulnerable populations.
