CAIRO – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said that the state gives special attention to the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), within the framework of the national strategy to support the industrial sector.
This came during Madbouli’s meeting with Chairman of the General Authority for the SCZONE Walid Gamal El-Edin, as part of the periodic follow-up of the pace of progress in projects being implemented in the area.
Madbouli pointed out that the government’s interest lies in taking executive measures and steps that would support localizing a number of important industries, such as those related to the new and renewable energy industry, and manufacturing cars, especially electric cars.
During the meeting, the Chairman of SCZONE briefed the premier on the results of promotional efforts during the first quarter of the fiscal year 2024-2025, in order to attract foreign direct investment.
He also shed light on the total number of projects for which final approvals were issued in the SCZONE industrial areas during the course of that fiscal year, which reached 17 projects, putting at 31 the number of new companies established within SCZONE during the same period.
Gamal El-Din touched on the results of the promotional tours and foreign visits organized by SCZONE recently, highlighting its contacts with a number of global major companies and economic blocs and participation in important economic events such as the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
