KUWAIT CITY – Seven Egyptian and Kuwaiti banks have been listed among the largest 1,000 banks globally, Secretary General of the Union of Arab Banks (UAB) Wissam Fattouh said.
Over 70 Arab banks have entered the aforementioned list in 2021, he said, according to an analytical study issued by the UAB’s General Secretariat.
The UAE has 14 banks on the list, followed by Saudi Arabia with 10 banks, Bahrain and Qatar with 8 banks for each of them, then Kuwait and Egypt with 7 banks for each of them, and Oman and Morocco with 5 banks for each of them and Jordan with 4 banks and finally Tunisia and Lebanon with 2 banks for each of them, he added.
As many as 18 Arab Islamic banks were also placed among the largest 1,000 banks globally, he said, pointing out that they include 4 UAE banks, 4 Saudi banks, 3 Qatari banks, 3 Kuwaiti banks, 2 banks in Bahrain and one bank in Egypt are included in the list in 2021.
